Secondary Glazing
Over the last 10 years Dask have been asked many times to provide secondary glazing solutions to several of our larger customers. After extensive research and physical testing we have been able to provide attractive products which will substantially improve both acoustic and thermal performance, whilst taking nothing away from the unique architectural detailing of the existing buildings.
Properly manufactured timber frames however, can incorporate mouldings and profiles matching those of the external windows, but can be acoustically sealed and incorporate the most up-to-date locking systems and acoustic reduction glass, to give a huge improvement to the internal environment of any building. We can also use very attractive ironmongery to enhance the product further and make a proper feature of the windows themselves.
Many of the projects we work on are either of Listed status, or incorporating some details of great aesthetic merit. Our clients generally want to enhance the quality and performance of their building, but without installing ugly aluminium secondary frames, which look fine when first installed but, after a few years become difficult to operate, and collect a lot of dirt and debris between the two layers of windows.
Whether it be for noise reduction, heat retention or personal safety, secondary glazing is the best means of improving any Listed or architecturally sensitive building, without actually changing the external windows themselves. Installing your secondary glazing in timber can actually make the building look better, as well as improving it’s performance.
